Product Range
O'Keefe Wood Carving creates a range of pieces from life sized sculptures and busts, to jewellery and Maori weapons. This page shows a selection of items that are available to order or buy but it doesn't stop there! Many more creations are not documented here, many of which reside around Banks Peninsula.
The larger peices such as the carved wooden sculptures of historic figures or portraits of loved ones hold a higher value and have a longer production period. There will often be peices in stock, available for purchase, which we will show here on the site and on our facebook page. If you are requiring a specific portrayal please contact to discuss and for a quote.
Other pieces are also created, such as carved axe handles, Patu, Toko Toko, Masks, Mumified Heads, Faces, Real and Mythical Creatures and adornments such as feathers, pendants and hair combs.
Whilst our specialality is Cultural Maori items, products are not limited to that area. Look out for the giant Eel, coming soon.................
Goldie Sculptures
These sculptures are based on the fantastic paintings by C.F.Goldie in the early 1900's. They are created to mirror the essence of these characters, they are usually created lifesized and in native wood.
Maori Figures
Figure sculptures can be based on Maori or any other people, such as important people from your past or present or just a much loved artist.
Pendants
Adornments such as pendants, feathers, hair pins etc are generally carved from bone. The Hei Tiki pictured was completed with a cord woven from flax and a toggle fastener made from antler and paua. Pendants can be created on their own or as a complete nacklace.
